Memory I

          In the last episode, I wrote about the first step into learning which is encoding! The step involves the perception of information through human various sense organs and the information perceived is transmitted into sensory inputs and then ready to go into the memory. This is leading to the second step in learning which is storage. The pieces of information being received don't just end at being sensory inputs alone well, not all. But they get stored up for later use.

When storage is about to happen then your memory comes into full action. A lot of people believe memory is only needed when you probably just need to remember something but No! Memory takes its full force when learning is in process. Now, what is memory?

   Human memory involves the ability to both preserve and recover information. Memory is a cognitive process that biologically happens with the help of some neurons in the brain. Memory isn't as simple as it looks because you could have imagined you had stored some things up only to discover you can't find them when you need to remember them. Then you imagine yourself opening the pages of what you assumed your memory to be and at the end of the day you end up a fruitless search. This could be based on some inaccuracy while retaining the pieces of information received or a memory disorder. There are 3 types of memory which I prefer to call 3 stages because I have observed that every piece of information goes through each from the first type just that some information didn't make it to the second whilst others made it to the second didn't make it to the last. The 3 types are;

 Sensory Memory

Short-term memory

Long term memory

Stages in Learning

Hello people! Welcome back!

             So last week I spoke about the environmental constraints in learning and I'm really glad at the feedback I got thank you everyone. So today! I've had plenty of curiosity so one time I was wondering how I find it easy to remember some things and struggle with others, like how exactly does the information I receive get to stay? Who does the selection of what stays and what does not, why do I study something and get to the exam hall to struggle with remembering exactly what I studied? Well, I always seek an answer to my curiosity, and trust me I always find

           So I learned there are 3 stages in learning, from the stage of seeing raw data to absorbing it, processing it, storing it all up, and then bringing it out again when needed. The three stages are;

Encoding

Storage

Retrieval

 This will be leading me to the next subject I will be discussing which is Memory. I have watched people have a shallow understanding of memory instead of taking the time to understand its complexities. Imagine how horrible it will be if you have to learn simple tasks like eating, dressing up, and talking every time you have to do them.

Encoding is the first step more likened to a gateway into your memory. Encoding happens when you perceive sensory input from the environment through any of your sense organs and then the brain translates it into memorable information ready to be stored. So as discussed earlier, all you do in the classroom is perceive sensory inputs and your brain transmits them into something memorable. What happens during encoding is that information enters into our memory;

 What happens to the informations perceived?

See you in the next episode.

Learning II

Hello guys! Welcome back! So we proceed on attention today

             So in my last post on attention I ended on the note that learning is not restricted to a classroom setting alone. In psychology there is something called conditioned learning and this happens when a person has been programmed to relate an event or an object to learning. So the perceived believe of a classroom to learning is because learning has been presented consistently in a classroom and what happens when an object or phenomenal is presented simultaneously with learning is that the brain conditions itself that: so when I see a classroom then learning is about to happen.

     For example i have dogs at home and I have a particular plate I use to feed my dogs, the plates have a unique sound it makes so whenever my dogs begin to hear the sound of the plate they begin to salivate. They rejoice that food is coming! Even if they haven't visualised the food yet! They are excited because the sound of the plate has been associated with food for them consistently over time and they have learnt to associate the particular plate with food but the dog doesn't know that food is food and can be served in different kinds of plate that doesn't necessarily have the same sound like this particular plate. The same way learning has been presented to us consistently over the years in a classroom is the same way we have come to associate classroom with learning and at some point, our brains struggle with learning when it is not being done in a classroom😌.

              I have studied that a classroom enhances learning. When your brain is conditioned to something learning it becomes easy because when you come into the environment, your brain shifts and adjusts itself to learning mode which in turn makes learning easy! But what happens when you don't have access to a classroom setting? Do you begin to struggle with learning?. Well you don't have to struggle with learning! All you have to do is to tell yourself;  Now that I am aware, a classroom is just a conditioned environment to enhance my learning. It is not a stable and the only place where I can learn. I can learn every and anywhere I find myself. With this your brain can start adjusting!

             By next week I will be writing on the three stages of learning! See you next week!

How to Achieve Productivity

If wishes were horses beggers will ride they say

I have realized that making a wish is as simple as falling asleep.

I know you struggle to get your wishes to come to reality!

You imagine a lot but just that some few things never exceed the realm of your imagination

Here is what I'm here  to teach you;

If you have struggled with bringing your imaginations to reality let's go through these few steps together;

1. You have to learn the act of journalling, write the thoughts down as you are imagining that's the first step!

2. Paste it everywhere your eyes can easily catch up with it every moment in your day.

3. Oh you don't like the paste idea I have another one for you, write it on a piece of paper snap it and save it as your phone's lock screen yes  so when you open your phone to see a movie it's right there smiling at you like a cute Barbie...

With all this, they resonate in your mind and stir something in your Conscience that makes fulfilling those big dreams you have easy to accomplish!

LEARNING I

Hello friends welcome to today's episode and trust your week has been productive.

           Have you taken out time to understand the concept of learning? Or at least study how your learning process comes to be. You have noticed that you find it convenient to memorize things at a specific time or you studied that you get to memorize things more when you are in a particular state. You think learning happens in a classroom alone so anything outside the classroom, you can't learn anything. You just have a boxed perspective towards learning and since it's the power of the mind once it's not it then you can't deal! You are just about to learn probably the opposite of what you know about learning.

       Firstly learning Is not memorising a full textbook or a material. There is a big difference between passing an exam and learning; meaning that you have passed an exam doesn't mean you have learned, learning is not a thing that needs you to mature or get to a specific age before it starts happening. Learning is not a thing that is restricted to a particular location e.g classroom  now let's quit what learning is not and talk about what learning is.

       Well! Learning is a relatively permanent change that happens/occurs through experiences. Now that's much like I guess let me break it down. First, when you say something is relative it has to mean that there is something that is in proportion to something, your learning processes in proportion to what you are learning. The second keyword in the definition is permanent change; for learning to be claimed to have occurred, meaning a change must have occurred and it has to be permanent (this will later lead us to discuss memory after this). And the last key word there is experiences! The moment a child is birthed learning is already activated in them, learning is equal to experiences, and experiences are equal to learning. So it's not until you get to a classroom you start learning, a classroom is just conditioned as a learning environment that can enhance and help your learning!
